In Fall 2018, I was able to take the honors course Sticky Innovation; a course that emphasized interdisciplinary collaboration in order to learn more about the “wicked problem” that faces bees and how colony collapse disorder impacts not only the honeybee population but humans as well. Through documentary films, arts-based research, scientific research, field experiences, and multiple reflections we explored how to creatively design solutions to complex problems. On other pages, I have posted the reflections over different experiences we had in the course. Overall, it was a very interesting course and it definitely introduced new concepts to me that I would have never thought of on my own, being in a hard science major, regarding creative thinking and arts-based research. I also got the opportunity to use 3D printing technology and was one of the first students to utilize the Maker’s Space at 1819 Innovation Hub.
